Kate and Mike

Dear Expectant Parent,

Thank you so much for considering us. We know you’re facing very personal and possibly difficult decisions for yourself and your baby. However your path leads, we hope and wish that you feel supported, respected, and loved. Please know we have you in our hearts as you navigate this journey.

To share a little about us, Kate grew up in Philadelphia, and Mike was born in North Carolina but moved around a lot as a kid. Since meeting in Washington, DC in 2017, we’ve continued to grow our love and friendship as we take on life’s adventures together. In 2021 we moved to Philadelphia and got married, and we made the move to Chicago in 2024. Mike’s career now has us firmly settled here in Chicago – where we’ve built a safe, warm, and happy home that we share with our two cats, Franklin and Zuberi. Both are sweet, gentle pets who we know will be wonderful cuddle buddies and playmates for a child.

We’ve always looked forward to adopting and have been waiting for the right time. We are so excited to start our family here in Chicago and share the life we’ve worked hard to build. The neighborhood we live in is one we chose for its good schools, parks and playgrounds, safety, diverse community, and access to the rest of the city. We’ve enjoyed making friends and building a network here.

Our support system extends beyond Chicago too, as we are lucky to have close relatives and friends in places like Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Hartford, Kure Beach (North Carolina), and even Singapore! Family is hugely important to us, and we have lots of visits with our siblings and parents – all of whom are overjoyed to become aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We also have cousins of all ages who are excited to welcome another little one into the family!

We want so many things for our child and are committed to giving them a life full of playfulness, adventure, travel, learning, laughter, and unwavering love. We look forward to nurturing their curiosity, encouraging their voice, and nourishing them in mind, body, and spirit. Our child will grow up knowing adoption is a beautiful thing, and that their whole story is something we honor and celebrate. We also want to instill them with honesty, integrity, confidence, compassion, and empathy – values that are deeply important to us both.

While this will be our first child, we hope to grow our family in time, as we both cherish our close sibling bonds and would love that for our children too.

We know this journey begins with you, and if you choose us, we will always honor your place in our child’s story. When it comes to open adoption, we believe that ongoing connection can be a gift, and we are open to finding the kind of relationship that feels right for you and is healthiest for the child over time.
