Birth Parent Panel Discussion – LIVE WEBINAR
December 4 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
This is a moderated panel discussion. The panel is comprised of birth parents that have placed children for adoption. Panelists will discuss their personal experience with adoption and address topics that they consider important and that are raised by the moderator. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions. They will be asked to examine already existing beliefs about what birth parents are thinking when initially considering placing a child for adoption – and what they think and feel before, during and following placement. Other topics to be addressed are relationships with adoptive parents as well as thoughts about and opportunities for communication between birth parents and adoptive families.
Kendall Schwartz, Class Moderator – For 12+ years I have been part of ACI as a volunteer on the Birth Parent Panel Class as a panelist and 6 years ago I had the pleasure of stepping into the role as the Class Moderator. I placed my son 18 years ago and have a semi-open adoption; I find it healing to have a platform for myself and other birthparents to share their story, perspective, and insight.
