Adoption Support Group

At Adoption Center of Illinois, we understand that adoption impacts everyone involved—before, during, and after the adoption process. That is why we are proud to offer our adoption support group program.

An adoption support group is a community space where individuals and families touched by adoption can share their experiences, gain insights, and access emotional support. It provides members with a platform to discuss their journey, connect with others, and benefit from the expertise of an adoption therapist. Whether you are a parent, adoptee, or considering adoption, the group aims to foster a sense of belonging and offer practical solutions to adoption-related challenges.

What Can You Expect from the Support Group

The support group is all about building community and getting support and insight from people with similar experiences. These are some of our focuses:

  • Access to Information and Resources: Learn about a variety of topics, including adoption-specific parenting strategies, identity exploration, and more.
  • Problem-Solving: Get help navigating common challenges like open adoption, attachment issues, and more.
  • Community Connections: Build relationships with others who have shared experiences, offering comfort and solidarity.
  • Emotional Support: Our adoption-competent therapist leads the group, providing expert guidance and creating a safe space for members to feel supported.

If you are interested in finding a new community or want more information, reach out and we will be happy to help you find a session that meets your needs.
