DESCRIPTION:We are always looking for ways to support you! \nACI is proud to announce a new online community called Adoption Community Connection! Designed to build a safe space for adoptive families and waiting families to create connections with other families\, find and share resources\, and most importantly\, to know you are not alone. Shared through a Google Drive\, members will find various databases they can search through and add to. SUMMARY:Prenatal Drug and Alcohol Exposure: What Prospective Parents Need to Know - LIVE WEBINAR
DESCRIPTION:Some children who are placed for adoption were prenatally exposed to drugs and/or alcohol. While this may alarm prospective parents\, increased awareness can be helpful. This class will teach prospective parents about the effects of prenatal drug and alcohol exposure\, explore what related symptoms can look like over time\, and outline available services for children and families who need them. This can help prospective parents make decisions\, gain a frame of reference for potential concerns\, and ultimately maximize their child’s potential. It is presented by Corinne Fleming\, Psy.D.\, a licensed clinical psychologist at Children’s Research Triangle\, which is a nonprofit organization in Chicago that specializes in evaluation and treatment of children with prenatal substance exposure\, as well as those who have experienced trauma. \n  \nREGISTER HERE \n  \nFree for ACI Families/Alumni \n$30 for Non-ACI families \nPayment for Non-ACI families can be made by calling ACI during business hours: 773.334.2300

SUMMARY:Communicating With Your Child About Adoption - At ACI Office
DESCRIPTION:Kay Holler\, Licensed Clinical Social Worker\, will explore the stages of a child’s development\, and what he/she is thinking about in terms of adoption at each stage. She will also discuss how to talk about adoption with your child and the importance of offering emotional support. Kay has been working in the adoption field for 27 years. She worked for a large social service agency from 1990-1997. Since then\, she has been providing therapy in a private practice setting for adoptees and their families. Kay is passionate about building connections between family members. She also enjoys leading interactive seminars on the topics of adoption and parenting.
