We are Ryan and Kristy. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and our family.
Ryan is a K9 Police Officer in the small town where we live, and Kristy is a Marketing Manager for a food manufacturer. We met in high school while working for a local pizzeria. In 2003, after a year of friendship, we started dating. In 2009 we got married, and today we have been together for almost 20 years! We share our home with our son, Carter, and with our two dogs, Lily and Hery (Ryan’s partner).
We turned to adoption to grow our family after failing to conceive naturally. When we had to decide between fertility treatments or adoption, we chose to pursue adoption. Adoption was something we were familiar with through friends and family. Ryan has cousins who were adopted, and we have friends on all sides of the triad.
Carter, joined our family through open adoption in January of 2018. He is the light of our lives! His smiles, laughter and endless energy have brought us more joy than we ever thought possible. Carter puts his all into everything he does, and it’s so fun to experience life with him by our sides. We are very open about our adoption journey, telling Carter stories, reading books and talking to him about his birth family all of the time. It’s important to us that he understands that adoption is a difficult and loving choice, and that his birth family sends him so much love every day.
Carter is excited to adopt another baby and become a big brother! He is such a loving boy, always giving us hugs and kisses, telling us that he loves us and snuggling up for movies and reading books. We cannot wait to see him shower a baby brother or sister with all of that affection.
A little about Ryan…
Ryan is an incredibly humble, kind and giving person. He doesn’t hesitate to help those in need, whether he’s on the job or lending a hand to family or friends. As far as his personality goes, Ryan is extremely laid-back and level-headed. He doesn’t let much get to him and is happy to go with the flow and do the things that make those around him feel comfortable and happy. When it comes to Carter, Ryan is up for just about anything. He chases him around the house, plays with Frozen and Trolls dolls, dances to Disney music, sings evening lullabies and acts scared every time Carter jumps out and yells “Boo!”
A little about Kristy…
Kristy is adventurous and definitely the planner in the family. She is always looking for fun new activities and adventures for us to do as a family. She enjoys spending time outside on nice days going for family walks, taking Carter on bike rides, or just sitting reading a book. Kristy also enjoys shopping and finding good deals whether its online or going to garage sales. She even crossed skydiving off her bucket list and enjoyed it so much she has gone several more times. When it comes to Carter, Kristy works so hard to make sure he is growing up healthy and happy. She is always doing arts and craft projects with him to make learning new things fun. She loves playing games, doing puzzles and just snuggling up with Carter on the couch to watch a movie.
Our promise to you…
The decisions you are faced with are more difficult than we can ever imagine. We are in awe of your strength, resilience and selflessness in considering adoption for your child. We could never know, and would never pretend to know, how you are feeling or what you are going through. What we can offer you is our full support throughout the entire process.
If you decide you place your child with us, we will do everything in our power to honor you and to honor that decision. Your child will always know that your love was so strong and so fierce that you made the hardest and most selfless decision possible to try and provide him/her with the best possible life. And that your love lives on every day.
We can guarantee that your child…
- Will be loved unconditionally.
- Will have a safe and nurturing home.
- Will be surrounded by friends and family who love and support him/her.
- Will know all about his/her birth family and culture, which we promise to embrace.
We made these same promises when we entered into an open adoption with our son, Carter, and we do not take them lightly. They are words that we live by every single day.
No matter what you decide, you have our love and respect.
