Hosting Studies

Many children throughout the world grow up in institutions, group homes, or foster care with little opportunity to experience a family. Hosting a child gives a family an opportunity to get to know a child before adopting them or to introduce and advocate for the child in their community. Children travel to the USA to be hosted during summer and winter breaks from school. This provides the child an opportunity to experience family life and learn about U.S. culture. After the hosting period, the children are required to return to their home countries.

After their hosting experience, some host families continue the process to adopt the children. Should your family wish to move forward to adopt the child you hosted, ACI can assist you through the adoption process as well.

Through these wonderful hosting programs, it is always hoped that the children will find a permanent, loving family. Hosting a child is an amazing opportunity for you and the child!

Once you have located a hosting program and need a home assessment completed in Illinois, the first step for all programs is submitting an ACI Application with the Program Phase I fee. Please visit our Program Fees and Documents Page to view detailed fees for each specific program.
